Dr Allbon is an Ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology (FRANZCO), with specialised training in complex Glaucoma surgery and Oculoplastics surgery. He completed his Glaucoma Fellowship at the University of Auckland’s Greenlane Eye Department, followed by an additional 6-month tenure as a Glaucoma Specialist, and further specialist training in Oculoplastic surgery.

Dr Allbon’s areas of expertise include refractive cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery encompassing aqueous filtering surgery, aqueous drainage shunt surgery, MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery), and laser-based glaucoma treatments such as SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) and diode laser. Additionally, he practices in oculoplastic surgery, pterygium, medical retina, and general ophthalmology.

Passionate about training the next generation of Ophthalmologists, Dr Allbon splits his time equally between Eye Specialist Institute, and the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is a member of several prestigious organisations including the Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society (ANZGS), the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS), and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).

Dr Allbon’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from the University of Otago, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Basic Sciences with Distinction (PGDipOphthBS Distinction) from the same university.
